Yeah, another Youtube born entertainer with a modest array of knives on show.

What's the general opinion of this chap here?

I quite like his style and older styled sword collection. But I'm finding the lack of traditional fixed blades/folders and the lack of high end modern ones a little annoying. I know this guy appeals to adults/kids who seem to know very little about blades (and few that do) but does anyone else find it a tad stale when these Youtube 'experts' review so many cheap/tacticool blades?

That being said, I do like his style and I'd like to see less gimmick knives and what not, but it's imnpossible to pass on a friendly suggestion on Youtube without being set upon by the mindless minions! lol

Can anyone recommend a Youtuber that may be more of what I'm looking for? (please not that nutinfancy.. guy or that other one cutlerylover?)

cheers gents

I have a lot of videos myself along with countless full reviews here on BF..

YT channel is in my sig...

Skall seems like a cool guy. His fairly recent video on the CRKT Graphite did help me decide to pick up a couple of them, though I primarily watch his sword and gun stuff rather than knife stuff. I think these two areas are where he's really in his element.

I dont recall that he calls himself an expert, he mostly reviews made in china knives and production swords
If you want reviews of better knives there are channels like Jim Skelton

Or this channel, but i think they are some kinda webshop

He definitely seems to have his head screwed on right. I've found myself agreeing with him more often than not.

I know its an old thread but i'm gonna reply anyway love theapostlep also I try to be fair detailed and have fun but maybe a little casual

Currently my favorite YT'r

OP:

I don't watch that many of Skallagrim's vids but the ones I have he seems to be informed and I like his anti-knife law ranting.

That Nutnfancy though, Haters gonna hate but the knife reviewing legend always has a place in my subscriptions!

I find Skallgrim entertaining, and his GF isn't hard on the eyes either (what can i say, i like em.. er.. "quirky"?) He buys stuff the average, Joe Six pack would, and that's ok by me. So many on YT, you can likely find your knife out there being reviewed by somebody.

Skallagrim is a larper with a camera and a Youtube channel. I think his videos are terrible, so I just don't watch them or follow his channel. There are so many "reviewers" on Youtube these days that aren't that great. It is what it is. Just gotta dig through the chaff to find the gems.

I've watched quite a few of his videos and yes, he's no expert, nor does he claim to be.

I found his videos to be entertaining

I have absolutely nothing bad to say about Skall. He's more of a swords and armor guy that occasionally forays in knives and guns. I enjoy his videos, he is an articulate, relatively modest and straight forward guy. He has no pretentions of being the be-all end-all expert and is pretty good at communicating with subscribers and accepting and acknowledging feedback. Its nice to see a reviewer that actually (on camera) uses the stuff they are reviewing, lately youtube seems to be overflowing with reviewers who do long winded table top reviews of items they've never actually used.

I really like Caffeine Junky, he's a member here, and does good testing, as well as general overviews on knives that I'm actually curious about. He's got an interest in performance oriented knives.

Skallagrim is a pretty entertaining guy. I actually learned a bit about swords from some of his videos, and while some of them are junk, the majority of them actually have decent information and entertaining commentary. Let's just all agree he is a lot better than Nutnfancy.

I just want point a few things out with all due respect. He never claims to be an expert and calling his collection modest is a pretty inaccurate claim considering he is always reviewing new swords and reviews a lot of very high end swords. Also if you are a regular watcher you would know that his channel does not focus on folders and those kinds of things, he is primarily a sword channel, we go to him to see swords not folders but yes he does occasionally review other things but we all know he's mostly about the swords. McDonalds occasionally sells the mcrib but we all know it is not a bbq restaurant lol. I hope that makes sense. Personally I dont watch videos about folders and things so I cant help you there. Have a good day
