What do you guys think? Grip tape keeps the slim profile, but with paracord- you always have paracord... Anyone ever wrap an SK - how'd you go about it? (I've seen threads with wrapped SKs- but never any advice on how to do it...)

so... tape or string?

I removed the inner strands and wrapped my SK with the outer shell, it laid flat and looks good (no picture). It was a real useful handle.

There's been some threads (somewhere here on BF) on wrapping with shock cord, how to start/stop and finish the wrap. I was able to hide both ends inside the handle cutouts.

Trouble was the handle was then to thick to fit the BB sheath I have, so I unwrapped it , oh well.

I used friction tape. Very old school, still effective. Looks like crap... but where I keep it no one sees it anyway!

I think you should go with micarta handles! Justin Gingrich does some really nice and affordable work.

I put leather slabs on mine last year for those piano key sheaths, it worked better than I figured it would. :)

Get Out! Ya serious? That sounds cool. You got any pics bro?

Speaking of Paracord... anyone remember the name of the thread and who started it where pics and instructions were given on how to do the wrapping?

Here's my wrap job... Sorry for the craptacular pic from my cell phone. Used grey paracord with the guts still in. Matches the Urban camo pattern nicely and fills out enough to get a good grip.

Wow that looks pretty good! Did you remove the strands?

Thanks Bravado! Nope left em in. However I was using the 4 strand instead of 7 strand paracord. Just enough "chunkyness" to get a good grip on the handle.

To anyone who attempts to do this I recommend taping the blade and inserting into a vice upside down. Took some patience getting the turns to line up just right. I don't think Wally Hayes has anything to fear from my cord wrapping skills though. :D

Here's what gutted paracord looks like, its a single thickness, it doesn't fatten it up much. You can wet the cord and get it tighter.

Finally sat down and got a couple of pics of it, its a lousy job but I'm curious what can be done with some carefully carved and decorated slabs. :D

and one with an extra sheath from the Piano Keys.

That's a very neat sheath Dwayne.

I was thinking of wrapping the portion of the handle that stuck out from another of Dwayne's sheath in SPECTRA. Perhaps the last third, for grip.

More in line with the SK than paracord perhaps? Skinny and strong?
