Skeletool - telling models apart

So I'm in the market for a pocketable tool with a one hand opening knife, pliers, and screwdrivers. After a good amount of research I decided on the leatherman skeletool, regular version. In my research, I've seen people saying that they broke their pliers, and others have replied that they've been strengthened in newer variations. So my question is there a way to tell the older version from the newer?

the blade shape. The old 154cm blade was serrated and the 440 was plain, now its swapped, so the 440 model should be half serrated. i'm pretty sure thats the only change.

If you remember they are multitools and not fullsize pliers you won't have to worry about breaking the jaws.

This. Too often, people think that they can go and do something ridiculous with these pliers...then they give negative reviews because the Skeletool broke while they were...I don't know...doing their oil change. I have an older CX and have no complaints. I'm going to see if I can ditch the serrated edged blade, though.

I own the original and it lives in my truck. What keeps it from being an edc is the pliers. On a too this size they really should have given the user a true needle nose plier. I find the snub nose to limit what I used my leathermans for.

Has anyone figured out a scissor mod for the skeletool like the mut? Had one, don't miss it for that reason. The mini version also underwhelms me.
