I emailed Sketchenscales outlining what i wanted on this S90V Military.
Got a prompt reply from Steve with a suggestion and couple of questions, we nailed down the details, and the result arrived back to me in the mail today.

Polished Venom Pearl Kirinite on a layer of Black G10, rounded contour, black screws, T8 for scale and clip, T15 for pivot, tip up right side clip mounting, barrel spacers to replace the back spacer.

Sketchen Scales are absolutely top notch, and Steve is just awesome to deal with.
Can't stop fondling and ogling this folder :D

steve is really doing some amazing work, and this knife came out GRATE,it also looks much better with the taichung black clip!

Looks awesome!

And love the tip-up carry. That's the only thing keeping me from getting a Millie. Might have to get one now. :D

You need to post this thread on the Spyderco forum so Sal will be forced to look at it, amazing work by Steve :D

Wow! That's one of the nicest Military's I've seen. Great vision and execution.

It is great work. I have a feeling Sal will see it here too and will hopefully see that a tip up carry option would be awesome. [emoji6]

Yeah I agree, very nice work; I also like the tip up carry clip position; I have a Military that I really love but never carry it because of the tip down thing; I thought about converting it to tip up but it is too much work, I think; it also has a lanyard hole but what is the use of that with tip down?. How did he install the clip to the handle? Is it screwed in to the handle only? or did he use something to give it strength in the back? Maybe inserts? Anyway, the knife looks beautiful for sure, I would think it a little slippery, but I have no experience with that material, is it grippy? Oh so many questions! So little time...nice blade.

One of the clip screws go into the extra barrel spacer, the other 2 have nuts recessed into the G10 inside the scale. It's very securely mounted.
Yes it's a smooth surface, certainly not grippy like G10 at all, though it does have a very slight bit of almost tackiness to it when rubbing the fingers over it with a bit of pressure. Feels good in hand when using, though it's not the most secure grip in pocket.
I would say similar in pocket-secure as my Para2 with Cuscadi wood scales, perhaps a tiny bit more pocket-secure than my Nishijin Stretch scales.
As with both of those examples, I have a repetitive almost sub-conscious tendency for my hand to keep checking it's there.

Thanks for the reply Cursum; that's a smart way of doing it; proves its not impossible to do it the right way. I have to check that material, it really looks nice.

Welcome. It's my first try at Kirinite scales, and as Steve (sketchen scales) pointed out to me, Kirinite itself is not really strong enough for scales on the Military, needs to be glued to an under layer of G10 as this was. But it sure does polish up to a nice lustre with look of depth to it's appearance.
