Here is a little 5" OAL skinner from 1084 with forged finger guard, Claro walnut, copper liners and pins, rawhide bolster wrap and some file work.

And I'm affectionately calling this the 'Blood Hawk' because of the red mahogany stain that looks shockingly like dried blood on the rawhide.

This was forged from a bar of W2 with the punched eye method.

Scott, is that skinner really 5" OAL? That's a small knife! I like the tapered tang, and what do you call the "choil" where it's thicker? I like that feature, whatever it's called.
Skinner and the Blood Hawk sounds like a title.

They are both nice but I really like the little skinner 5"OAL that is some real hip bling there

Yeah... it's a small guy. It might be 5.5"... I didn't have the knife with me when I wrote that. But it is a 3 finger handle. I REALLY like this design for skinning as it allows me to really get inside the animal for careful skinning. The guy I made it for will not be using it for that, otherwise I would probably skip the rawhide wrap.. although it is sealed heavily with superglue and should be okay.

The thicker area is flaired or forged finger guard. Something Joe Keeslar likes to do.

Thanks for commenting....

Thank you for looking folks!

Hot slitting a 1 inch thick piece of W2 ain't for the faint of heart.... even if I did cheat by getting a nice groove to aim for with my mill.
