does the CRK skinner have thumb grooves on the spine of the blade? har to tell from the CRK web site photo. How do any of you like this knife?

There are some lines that go across the blade (two sets of about 20 fine grooves each).

They are placed just perfectly for my thumb, whether bare or with a plastic glove on. They seem to be enough to keep my thumb in place. The hollow handle is perfect to store a pair of latex gloves wound around a little pencil for filling out a tag along with a little twine to attach it. I wrap it up tight, put it in a thin sandwich bag and jam it in. Hey, it fits and it's less crap I have to worry about losing.

The handle is "grippy" enough for just about anything.

I love the knife. I think someone with some skinning experience must have participated in the design. It flows nicely while caping, it has enough mass to chop through joints or bone, and the blade is wide enough that you can hold the blade and use it as a scraper. Most skinning knives I have seen aren't wide enough to get a good enough grip to use as a scraper. I wondered about the different blade shape, and I think that is why.

I can also choke up on it and control it very nicely.

My $.02.

Mike
