I am wanting to get my father a new skinner for Christmas. I am leaning toward a Dozier however I have never owner one and am open to other suggestions so i thought I would ask you guys what your choice would be within that price range. Also it needs to be a knife that can be quickly obtained before Christmas therefore a custom other than a dozier or a knife that can be gotten from flea bay is out of the running. Thanks in advance for your input I appreciate it.

A.G. Russell has "low availability" on the White River Skinner. He has several of Bob's hand-made models in stock but it looks like the rest of the AMD's are sold out.

If that model trips your trigger it might be worth a call.

Get him the Dozier. I'm so glad I bought one of his knives. You never know when Bob mite kick the bucket and then you would never be able to afford one of his knives for your father if that happened because the prices would skyrocket. A.G. Russell is good to deal with when you call. I had to call once to check the availability of a buffalo river dozier and the lady who answered the phone was very polite and professional.

I appreciate the info guys and as a matter of fact I live about an hour and a half from AG and believe I will run up there and see what they have in stock first hand. Gotten take the wife to do some Christmas shopping up there anyway.

Be sure to check out AG's Cutting Edge website, a catalog of aftermarket custom and factory knives, to see what might be available. If you're headed to NW Arkansas you can see the knives in person before purchasing.

You could always go with Cabela's Buck Vanguard in S30V. A great knife. Not a dedicated skinner, but a great all around field knife that will certainly work for skinning. And you can get it with fast shipping from them, if you don't have a store near you.

If at all possible, go with the Dozier. Wow, buying such a nice knife for your father is great. Let me know if you are ever up for adoption..;):D
