I said make do and not all that important, not of no importance.
Most knives have a reasonable profile that can be used for skinning unless we are going to goto fantasy blades or combat knives wrecking knives or 12 inch monsters.
Does it really require stating some blades are ENTIRELY unacceptable unless you have no other option?
When it comes to a knife.
If you cant hold the handle properly and with comfort then its going to perform badly no matter the edge profile.
The larger the animal and longer you use the blade the worse it gets.
How many people on these forums have used knives for hours at a time?
I grew up on a farm... Cattle-Goats-Ducks-Geese-Chickens-Rabbits-Swine-Kangaroos.
Ive seen others get hand cramps due to handles not suited to a hand.. and ive seen bad cuts when said hand slipped over the blade.
Ive suffered cramps from using knives that didnt fit my my hand properly and endured the pain that just increases as time goes by till your fingers actually lock 3 hours into processing.
Doing a single rabbit grip may not matter all to much, doing 50 and it really does.
I will take a good grip with a subpar blade for skinning over a good blade but subpar grip any day of the week.
Of course I have nerve damage in my hand from toughing it out earlier in life and using any knife for detail work for 10-15 without constant breaks locks my hand up now.
But Hey
Thats just my experience take it or leave it thats the beauty of the internet
