anyone skinned a deer or fileted fish or anything with bk-9? how did it do? thanks in advance.

I can't imagine doing either task with my BK9. "Combat Bowie" is the name of the knife, I think, and that says it all. A hunter/sportsman would be much better served by investing (for the same amount of $) in a Rapala Fillet knife, a 2 1/2" to 3" dropped point hunter (for field dressing) and a Sharpfinger (for skinning).

I use this knife day and day out in field.
1st fileting works resonably well if the first three inches of the blade is stropped 800 or 1000 wet n dry and skins other critters OK if sharpened in this manner the straight part of my blade I keep convex ground and polished sharp for chopping and razory sharp at the last inch for whittling triggers and such. My students often ask if only one knife the BK9 would win hands down:D

The BK9 has a pouch on the sheath that can be used for carryng first aid supplies. I'd include a suture kit and antibiotics if I were going to a wild place and was going to use such a large, and in Nomad's case, razor-sharp knife for such delicate work. For general duties, carry a couple of different task-specific knives. For high adventure and survival, again, carry a couple of different task-specific knives (weight will be about the same, usefullness multiplied dozens of times).

Just my opinion, respectfully submitted.
