Well, about a week ago i got my first Busse,a skinny ash. I took it to the mountains for three days to see what all the praise for Busse knives was all about. I was not at all nice to this knife. i cut lean to poles,i cut cedar boughs, i made fuzz sticks, i made kindling, i used a baton on it to cut all my fire wood , i opened cans with it, and when i got home i sliced a tomatoe with it. All i can say is WOW, this is an amazing knife. I was surprized at what a good chopper it was for its size and wieght, and how easily it performed all task i gave it,my final test on my knives is slicing a tomatoe with it after a few days use, most don't do to well, the skinny ash handled it like a chefs knife. the only evidence of use is it marked up the finish a little. Now my problem is i need more Busse!, G.M

You're doomed.

Cut up all your credit cards now. Before it's too late.

Except ... it's already too late.

All we can do is sponsor a Credit Wake on your behalf.

Another one bites the dust. :o

Even Hank and Ben appear clueless about how to handle ICD (INFI Credit Drain). It's Washington's dirtiest little secret and in my opinion, the real reason why even solving the credit default swap threat will never make us completely safe again. To this looming presence all I can say is ...
"No Regrets"
:D

I'm not sure what model I want next, it seems really hard to find out about models and blade sizes and such,if someone could direct me toward some info it sure would be appreciated. G.M

Maybe some one could edumacate me a bit.

I was looking at the skinny ASH-es on the company store site. It dawned on me that the skinny ASH looks essentially the same as a Hellrazor minus the corrugations on the blade, no swedge and no wavy top. Is this accurate? Blade length, thickness and profile otherwise seem the same.

Cpl P,

Good question. I actually own both now and can say they are different "enough".

But, there are a fair number of similarities. The main differences are the spine/scallop differences, CBT, slight difference in belly/point and most notably the handle.
The do both have about the same thickness, length and convex grind.

I pondered this prior to receiving my own and did a "ghost" overlay of the two with some borrowed pics:

Here is what I came up with:

... I think it is a cool pic/photoshop. :o ;)

i love my skinny ash.

it is black canvas micarta, brought to busse's shop by secret caravans from the far east.

Thanks for the info. For some reason it looked to have a tint of brownish/Sage (????). I have plenty of black micarta. But, that color looked nicer in the pic (?????).

It is black macarta, it does have a greenish look to it though, i think it is just reflecting the green blade. Thanks for the info on models. I thought the skinny ash was a thinner version of the steel heart, but i'm new to all this Busse stuff, thanks again .G.M

The black micarta looks pretty green in most of the Busse knives I have. I like it that way though.
