I've been trying to find a very slim and flat fixed blade I can carry in my bag as a general slicer for apples and the like. The one i like best so far is the Condor Bush Buddy. Very flat and slim. Also the price is VERY reasonable. My question for those who have one is, how do the CS spike series of knives work for slicing? Are the blades too thick? Any other recommendations are welcome.

Something from Blind Horse or a Bark River Micro Canadian?

I only have one Spike but it would work horrible as a fruit knife. The blade is too thick and will split an apple rather than slice it.

Have you looked at the AG Russell Woodswalker yet?

i would agree with Rupestris...the woods walker has been in my work lunchbox for over a year now and all it does is slice fruits and veggies, blade's a bit short though. If you need something longer, I'd go mora or opinel.

are you dead set on fixed blade? if not you have a whole bunch more options.

for folders, i like

opinel

Coincidentally, I just got a Woodswalker today. I also got something I think is far superior for the task: the Buck Packlite Caper.

Crazy sharp, great full-hand grip, amazingly light, and made in the USA.

It really surprised me — a really great knife for the price.
