In everyones opinion which would you carry everyday and why.

Microtech Socom Tanto or Benchmade Skirmish?

Thanks,

I do not care for tanto's, so I would have to go with the Skirmish. And I happen to love titanium frame locks, so that is a no brainer for me.
Not to mention that from what I have read, Microtech's customer service stinks! I would personally NEVER buy a Microtech to begin with.

Definitely a Skirmish. For as big as it is, its a pretty slim framelock and carries very well as long as you don't mind the weight.

One more vote for the Skirmish....I've been carrying one everyday for over a year and love it.

I have been hearing MT Customer Service sucked. I just sent mine in for some warrenty work and they called me letting me know they recieved it and said they would call me when its on its way back. They recieved it mon and said it should be on its way fri. Guess I got lucky.

Anyway, the reason i asked is because I own both and may be selling one of them but having a hard time deciding.

i had a Socom and wasn't that impressed. i've handled the Skirmish on a few occasions and it's on my list. it really does handle well for a big folder.

I have a Socom Elite in S90V, and the Large Skirmish. Carry whichever one you like. My only complaint about either was the obtuse edge which seems to come on Benchmade knives. I don't like having to remove that much steel when I first buy a knife.

Like our esteemed knifesister The Knife Collector, I too have a thing for a good Titanium Framelock, and ti just about everything. The Skirmish is a good knife, though not nearly as finely finished as some of the others I have, and had in the past. It was a bunch cheaper though, so I can live with it.

There isn't really anything fragile about an MT socom BTW. I've never had to use their warranty service luckily though. Joe

Another vote for the Skirmish. For a large folder it handles very well imho. That and it's solid as a rock, locks up nice & tight.

Ha, I vote for the SOCOM. I am fond of the 98 years and carry mine now and then. The reason I don't edc it is that they are getting very expensive to replace and the 98's are getting harder to come by. As for being fragile or delicate, no freakin way! Thick liner lock, milled T6 handles with the rubber inserts. What is not to like. Oh yea razor sharp. Have had 2 Skirmishes and sent both down the road shortly after recieving them. The SOCOM is the quintessential tactical/edc. Always has been and always will be:) keepem sharp

I don't have a skirmish, but I have MT socom auto with tanto point. the plunge lock is very solid. No play. The only thing I dont like about this knive is that the handle is made of aluminum and if you drop it, aluminum handles are easier to get dents or scratches compared to other maerials like g10 or carbonfiber. Dont have any folders with titanium handles but much harder than aluminum? I think. anyway the socom is a very solid and well made knive I think.

I carry a MT Socom Elite Auto and love it. It's light, quick and has stood up to some rough use. I like the skirmish, but it's really big in the pocket and I don't like the clip. Both are great knives so you really can't go wrong.

I've had both knives, but no longer have either. If I could have one back, I'd go with the skirmish and probably have a smaller clip put on it and set up for tip up carry.
