Something very different for me...certainly not gonna be everyone's cup of tea:barf::o...love it or hate it, here it is for your viewing pleasure. The skull carvings were spec'd by the customer. Full tapered tang, double guard construction. Zirconium and black timascus bolsters, titanium screws and 1075 blades...I hope to take what I learned with carving here and apply it to future projects. The sheaths are made to be carried angled, small of the back for ambidextrous draw.

you carved those skulls ? awesome ! i really like the textured areas on the handle with the borders.

Not sure the technical name for the sheaths. I did carve the skulls...a good bit of work carving the zirconium:eek:.

It's called a Paul Long Loveless-style collared sheath, and I know that because I ordered the first one Paul made, and he has been doing them ever since....except he makes the keeper strap shorter for me, as it should be.

I challenge ANYONE to put up a picture of one that goes back say 15 years, that looks exactly like this....the chevron throat in particular is Paul Long style.

Perhaps not everyone's cup of tea, however everyone should recognize the abundance of talent that went into the making of them.
Did your dad make the sheaths?

Thanks for the clarification, STeven. I'm not a sheath guy so I don't pay much attention to their history...I pass the customer's requests on to Dad. Just curious though, is it a common thing to carry two knives crossed at the back? This is the second time I've had someone wanting it.

Very nice work. I like how function (small of the back carry and ambi draw) was incorporated into the design.

Probably not real common, Ben. I can't remember ever having a similar request, but as long as your customer is happy and you are happy, that makes me happy.

I like to hide an watch him re-insert the knives behind his back without cutting the sheath, particularly with that collar.

I made a couple for my buddy J Paranee with the Loveless collar for scout carry but they have snap off belt loops so the knife can be re-inserted off the body after use.

I like em. Way to push your comfort zone Ben.

These look awesome Ben. you're right, they are't everyones cup of tea, but i admire the skills involved and FWIW i'd drink some of that tea.
lastly your dad has some serious leather skills. good stuff

Maybe for someone watching a lot of Lorezo Lamas on tv, lol!

If one was seriously going to USE a knife in that carry configuration, it would make more sense to have a molded throat for retention, maybe with a metal reinforcement, so they DONT cut a strap and can easily re-sheath when the zombies are dispatched.

Nice looking package.....carving is very stylish!
