I've had my Kershaw Skyline for a year now, and I love the light weight, thin blade/edge and large blade to handle ratio. The issue I'm having is that whenever pressure is put against the edge (as in cutting something tough) the liner lock moves... a lot. When the knife is opened the lockup is nearly perfect, slightly left of center tang, after cutting something resistant such as leather/wood/rope the liner moves all the way across the tang to the far scale. At first I thought it might be my grip, but that is not the case. When holding the bottom of the handle in one hand (not touching the lock), and pulling backwards on the blade, I can watch the liner move across the tang until it reaches the opposite scale (takes about 10-15lbs of force). This does not seem to affect the lockup because the liner is thicker than the scale to tang gap, so I don't believe safety is really an issue here, I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this happen with their skyline? I believe the cause to be the stop pin making contact with the far side G10 scale first, leaving a gap between the steel liner and the thumb stud on the liner side. If I am not mistaken, the stop pin should contact the steel liner, but the G10 on the opposite side is preventing it from doing so, and being more flexible than steel, the G10 does not provide a solid stop base. Of course that's just a guess. Any input from fellow Skyline owners would be appreciated, thanks.
