We all know that the future of aviation belongs to the dirigible. When the mighty airship graces the skies once again, air pirates and buccaneers are sure to clash with all manner of cloud-stream tradesmen.

A Skyship Captain needs to lead his crew stalwartly into battle, and maintain discipline among the oft unruly ranks. For this he needs a good sword.

This Skyship Captain's cutlass is light-weight, and its blade and hilt are rounded to keep from snagging ropes or robes when assaulting and boarding another airship. Being forged of titanium alloy, it's also very strong and resistant to shock and fatigue, important attributes whether prying on a jammed harpoon gun or engaging in single combat with another Skyship Captain.

Blade: Forged 89.5Ti 10Nb 0.5Fe beta titanium alloy, hardened, quite sharp

Hilt: Solid copper, rubber, waxed cord, deerskin lace

Weight: 1 lb, 8 oz

Length: 25" OAL, 7" hilt, 18" blade

My camera can't capture the colors in this sword's blade; it has to be seen in person. It's gray, slick and glossy, with a trout-like shimmer of colors that appear and dissolve like a hologram. It's the result of a new multi-step heat treatment that's giving me stellar results! Here is an attempt to capture some of the colors:

I actually didn't know what this sword was until Chris Larrikin's suggestion made it obvious that it was a Skyship Captain's cutlass. Thanks Chris! :D

Thanks everyone!

Figured I'd post this up, it's the vid for this sword, footage taken right before the photos above.

A note on these videos: All my swords get smacked around getting "comparison-chopped" on various objects so that I can make improvements. Some of this dorkery gets recorded to show the blades in action a bit, but of course it isn't meant to be too serious!
