Slab of a knife for EDC toughness

Historically I have been strictly a spyderco folder guy, but I decided to branch out and picked up a ZT0550. This knife is amazing! Super beefy, but comfortable in pocket with the gen2 deep carry clip. Fit and finish is spot on and opens and closes like butter. Lock up is rock solid. S35v steel came hair shaving sharp too. I am really impressed. I am already looking for a custom scale--- only ones I can find are from kryptoglow but I prefer the look of the hinderer frag scales which are sold out (unless I want pink or yellow). Any recommendations?

I might have to pick up another ZT--- I have my eye on the 350 orange or 561. I am very impressed with ZT so far.

Couple of quick photos from the office:

Just recently purchased my 1st 550, gen 1. I prefer the pocket clip. It's currently in transit, but I can't wait to get my hands on it. I haven't heard anything bad about the 550s. Seams like an amazing knife.

One of my friends has taken to calling my 0550 "the slab". I still <3 it though :D

As for scales, wood both looks good and makes the knife much less scary and tactical.

I am really a Spyderco guy too. I do own a few Kershaw budget knives and like them a lot, but I'd never owned a ZT before. Well, I picked up a ZT0550 (Gen2) too and I agree it is quite the knife. I am quite taken with it! :) I'm looking for a custom scale too (want blue/black G10 combo). I found rival1314's work to be pretty impressive and emailed him a few days ago with the email he posted here on BF a couple months ago, as well as the email he lists on his FB page (and PM'd him thru YT), but so far no response from him. :( Maybe he's on vaca or something, IDK.

I found out rival is injured and out of commission until April I believe....

Did you consider making one yourself? I've seen first-timers do some pretty amazing work. You need only a small amount of slab material.

Rival is injured and not taking orders until April. Looking for a scale sooner. Just a basic bright blue g10. Nothing crazy.
