I am going to be using lovelass type bolts to attach my slabs. What is a good way to have the holes on each side line up and match the holes in the tang? Any help is needed.
Thanks for this forum!!!!

I assemble the handle all at once. On full tangs, I fix a scale on with 2-4 drops of CA, just at the edges. Let it setup for a few minutes, and drill the pin holes using the tang as a template.
I outline the tang on the scale with a pencil, then rap it sharply on the edge of my work bench. It will pop right off.
Repeat with the other side, trim off any excess you want to get rid of, do the front of the scales, quickly sand the old CA off from the scales, and tang, wipe everything down with Acetone, butter it up, and assemble.
When it's all dry, grind the pins down as you finish the handle.

Tips courtesy of Mike Hull, in answer to a question I posted a while ago. Just change pins out for bolts, and you'll have your holes drilled jsut right.

this may be dumb but whats CA? Thats a great tip!

thats what I thought, I just wanted to be sure.
Thats what I'll do ')~

Engnath, Engnath, Engnath ... he said chantingly.

What mooser1111 said. I read them a long time ago and shrugged my shoulders and said thanks. I've re-read them and found out most of what I wondered about is in there - Free! It is packed with how to and answers.

The text is terse in places, but just believe it, do it, then modify it. Not everyone agrees, not everyone does his that way. But the methods are sound. Again, just follow them to the letter on at least one project. Then incorporate other ideas and processes.
