I'm looking for a knife to carry when I'm dressed nicely. Something that will be very sleek looking, something that has fast deployment, and is very useful (I use my knives rather often).

In my research I've stumbled upon a few knives that really caught my eye. If you think there are other designs by other companies that I should consider I would love to hear some recommendations.

Currently I'm very interested in the Benchmade 940 in carbon fiber with the S90V. I've never owned a benchmade and I'm afraid I'll be let down with a less than perfect axis lock/pivot action.

I'm also curious about the Kershaw Skyline with carbon fiber and S30V. I've never owned a Kershaw and am worried about quality issues.

The same can be said about the boker kwaiken titanium flipper. I don't want to be burned by poor quality control.

Any suggestions or words of wisdom would be appreciated.

AG Russell Acies II
Spyderco Domino

Scurvy092, I've definitely looked at a few of them but they seem to be a bit out of my price range. Right now I don't think i should spend over $300 on a pocket knife... even if it is for a dress knife.

Kershaw leek done in black with gold accents. Not sure if they are still easy to find, I have two. Sleek, elegant and fast.

I like my spyderco dice.

Pretty carbon fiber scale, small blade with a flipper or spyder hole opening depending on environment

I have definitely thought about the leek but assisted knives are illegal where I am and I don't know where to find a sprint run leek... I have basically made all of my knife purchases on either amazon or BladeHQ... any advice on new sites to pay attention to?

Any sort of assist?

The 940-1 is an amazing knife too.

I'm very familiar with spyderco knives, I have five. I think I would like this knife a lot too, I'll have to look into it more. I'll pay some more attention to the domino as well.

Some variant of a Benchmade 940/943.

Spyderco Air or Chapparal should fit the bill nicely. more money? look at a Chris reeve Mnandi.

I love Spyderco knives, but the Domino and Dice are decidedly not sleek. They're fat, bulky little buggers.

Beretta Avenger 2 if you can find one. They're pretty darn cool and cut like crazy. I used to fix carbon boats so as soon as I saw it I was in love, but they've been discontinued for years now I think.

I have the 940-1, and it's a great knife that sees lots of use. It's nice and slim, but very light. The s90 steel takes a nice edge and holds it forever. The fit and finish on mine is good, the only issue on mine is the blade was ground a little crooked. The pivot and lock operate flawlessly and are both very smooth.

Edit to add: they cost 263$, for that around that price you can get the edc series from William Henry, they are the almost perfect dress knife!

William Henry E6 or E10. With knives costing into the tens of thousands of dollars and flawless fit & finish, William Henry defines the "gentleman's folder" category for me.

I would recommend both the Kershaw Oso Sweet (assisted opener) or the Colt linerlock D2 (thumbstud). Both great knives
with good steel; take a hold a good edge. I prefer the Colt Linerlock D2 over the Kershaw Skyline (which I also have).
The Colt is about the same size as the Skyline and comes VERY sharp out of the box and is half the price of the
Skyline. Also maybe consider some of the Schrade linerlocks with G10 handles; amazing steel, good quality and very inexpensive
(I have three different models - all take a razor edge and lock up tightly: very good quality IMHO) All of mine mentioned
are plain blade - I don't like serrated blades. If I need a saw, I'll get a saw.

The 940-1 with a low rider BM clip is one heck of a Gent's knife. A full size knife, great steel and weighs less than an FRN Delica. Benchmade got this one right.
