Sleeping bag suggestions

Hello everyone,

I've been backpacking around Europe this entire year. I've had a tent on me but no sleeping bag. It has been fine until these last 2 months. I'm now in areas where I can't camp outside without a sleeping bag. I would like to hear suggestions the community has for me. The lighter, the better. I won't need one for temperatures under 20 degrees. I'm trying not to spend a ton of money either.

Thanks in advance!

Get a synthetic bag that isn't too bulky. I'm not sure where you are but, the larger camping outdoor stores should be able to give you good advice. With VAT and higher prices in general, be prepared for sticker shock.

I have no idea if they are available where you are but after a lot of shopping and deliberation, I bought a North Face Cat's Meow bag. For me it was an excellent compromise of warmth, durability, weight, compactness, features and price. TNF seems to have a habit of making small detail changes every year and the "old style" bags are usually discounted by retailers. Worth looking into in my opinion.

I've enjoyed my SnugPak Jungle Bag. It didn't cost too much (like $70 on Amazon) and it packs down very small in its' compression sack.

Nice, the company says it is not available in the states. Is yours from JunglePac?

It's a SnugPak brand Jungle Bag. There available all over the place. I just got another yesterday from a big US shooting gear distributor.

Rolling it out to test it for function, the thing is very high quality for what it costs. It even has a mosquito net to cover your face, is rectangular in shape (instead of the constraining mummy shape bags) and the compression sack is among the best I've seen.

Did NutNFancy do a review on these but the ones he did a review on was called a Recon Bag?

The insulation is not a fill but one flat piece sewn in.

just a thought, there is a german grocery store chain called Aldi, not sure if you've come across it. They sell fairly near everything, and pretty cheap. That would be a good place to look for a bag.

I'll second the north face cats meow. Bought one 12+ years ago it's still the one I use. North face has cheaper bags also the Aleutian series, I think.

My sleeping bag hangs down the basement when not in use.

Snugpak bags that are made in the UK are awesome. I'm not a fan of their Chinese bags.
