I mentioned in a previous "favorite hiking spots" thread that this place is one of our all-time favorites. Great hiking along the ridge trails looking down at the shoreline or along the shoreline itself. We spent four hours hiking these two spots on Saturday and pretty much had the place to ourselves.

This shot is typical of this stretch of beach. Nobody ahead of you and nobody behind.

This is an observation platform that gives great views of the shoreline and North & South Manitou Islands. A VERY steep dune, several hundred vertical feet tall falls to the shoreline below. The island in the background is South Manitou.

Lots of solitude to get lost in your thoughts.

Lots of cool discoveries to be made.

We had an awesome fire on the beach Saturday night (the JK Hatchet saw more action) and the star show was incredible. Thanks for looking!

Here's another shot looking out from the top of the dunes toward the islands.

And this is from a little further inland.

Hi Jeff -

Thanks for the pictures - that is a very cool spot! I love it when you can find a beach that is not full of other people.

One of my best friends just got married last year , the wedding was on Silver Beach - further south down the lakeshore.

best regards -

Nice spot you've found there. If or when I make it back to MI, might have to check it out.
