I was going through my knife roll and found a knife I,d forgotten about. It,s a lightning s's dot [I forget how many] 254 trapper with slick black plastic scales. Has any one seen or own one of these? I cant find any info on this handle type in Case trappers. I,ll get more info and maybe pix later. Thanx--KV

Perhaps knifeaholic will answer he is a wealth of knowledge on Case knifes. I have never heard of a (2) 54 slick back antique Case Trapper I'm not to well read on Case knives after 1970 10 dot production.. Sorry I couldn't help you...

This knife is post '69. With the lightning type s's and either 5 or 7 dots. Ill get more info when i get home.--thanx--KV

The lightning S's are post 1980 iirc. So it should be 1983 or 1985 from what you describe.

If it is an 80's lightning S, then it was an SFO (Special Factory Order). If it has no etchings or special markings, then it was an SFO overrun.

The only time that Case offered a slick black 54 as a standard catalog knife was 1993-1996 when the 2254 SS was in the line with glazed stainless blades.

Thanx for your help guys! Mine must be a SFO over run as there is no etching.----KV
