Slid into a ditch this morning

The roads this morning were SO slippery and I, along with everyone else, was crawling along. I guess I braked in a bad spot. My car spun around, across the left lane and went nose-down into a snow-filled ditch. It didn't hit hard; we (me and my dog) were cushioned by the snow and the fact that I was driving slowly. We were both wearing seatbelts too, although I don't think it would have mattered even if we weren't.

Anyway, people can be so kind sometimes. Every person who passed me stopped and asked if I was okay or needed help. The first person who stopped said he was going to do some kind of job just up the road and he could go there and borrow a tow-rope. He came back about 10 minutes later and pulled me out. I tried to give him some money but he wouldn't take it. Also, there was a plow coming from the other direction who stopped far away and put his blinkers on to stop traffic while the guy pulled my car out.

I just wanted to share this. It's nice to know that people are thoughtful enough to stop and offer help, even though that would make them late for work or wherever they were going. :)

Glad to here that you and your dog are OK. :D

Glad your alright, the roads over here by the Delaware Watergap, especially 611 are treacherous.

Many times people have helped me when I'd been stuck, so I always try to do the same when someones in trouble.

Nice to hear you got help. If more people would be that helpful, this would be a nicer place to live.

Good to know you're alright and someone came to help you. Need to always be prepared in winter. Although i always gamble and never ever take jumper cables or stuff like that. Hehehe.

Come to think of it there isn't even a flashlight in the car.

Dam..I could have been there with my truck!!!!..pulled you out..whipped out a thermos of hot chocolate for the lady..and a doggie treat for the pup...we would have had a lunch date later....sigh...

Sure they all love to help a good lookin' doll, but just try to get a hand if your an old, fat, bald dude that, just by chance, has Charlie Mansons eyes. :p
Life is so unfair.... :(

Happy to hear that things worked out OK for you. Lucky there was no oncoming traffic in the other lane!

Your big ol' poodle must be very well-behaved if she doesn't mind being strapped into a seatbelt...:D Good idea.

I have a doggy-seatbelt for Alice. It's kind of a harness that hooks on to the regular seat belt. I only use it when I'm driving in bad weather. I've also gotten into that parental thing where I automatically reach out my right hand to hold her in place in the passenger seat!

Thanks for the replies. I really only wanted to give credit to all the nice people who stopped and offered to help me. Most people, if given the chance, really do try to help each other out in these kinds of situations. I guess it may have something to do with my being a girl and stuff, but even so, I wasn't at my best; I was wearing my snow boots and a wool coat and scarf and gloves. I can't deal well with the cold, so I was probably looking like an eskimo or something.

I emailed a letter to the Editor of our local paper this morning thanking the people who had stopped to help me. I hope they print it. With all the complaints, and all the road-rage stuff, it's nice to be able to say something positive about people helping people on the road.
