I made a sliding table for my belt grinder using 20mm linear bearings. It has a 24" length of travel and a crossfeed mechanism. It is versatile and accurate. I don't make knives as a rule, although here I am using it to grind the teeth off an old hacksaw blade to make a bread knife. I am posting it because it might be helpful to those thinking about add-ons to their grinders.

That has real potential - Could you post a few more photos showing details of construction?

Here is how it is put together.
Photo 1 - The main work table is 1/2" aluminum 8x24.
Photo 2 - The bearing guides screw to the work table. 36" x 20mm.
Photo 3 - The sliding work table screws to the linear bearings. It has threaded holes for various jigs.
Photo 4 - The cross feed screws to the sliding table. $150 on Amazon.
Photo 5 - Jigs or clamps screw to the cross feed. I made this for the hacksaw blade.
Photo 6 - I made a heavy duty hinge so the grinder can be laid flat. The work tables can then be assembled in that position.
