Not all turn out to be works of art. :D At least I missed my hand during this epic fail of a test fitting.

Ouch!! Glad you missed your hand. I've done this also and it hurts to mangle a new creation like that.

I suppose you've proven your knife is sharp enough. I don't have much experience with fixed blades especially with soft sheaths. Was it technique that would have prevented you from doing that or sheath design?

Sorry to see that Bud. At least you were not hurt. That photo makes me think of a painful zipper accident a la "Something about Mary."

Damn Bud.
Your very lucky buddy. Phew don't be screwing your leather bending implements up we need you to make us all some proper pants

Piss-poor planning on my part of the sheath design by making too narrow of a throat on the sheath coupled with THICK handles/blade.

Well, now you've got me rethinking an in the waistband sheath

Nah .. that's why you do some T&E before finishing one. This sheath was waaay too tight/small/thin for THIS knife.

Been there, done that Bud. Not on a sheath that I made, but on one where I thought a knife should fit. I just got too aggressive on the new leather that was not formed at all to any knife.

Malada, I use a well formed IWB sheath daily with no hint of a problem. The forces required to replicate bonafide's accident are not anything close to simple extraction and insertion forces required in a well formed sheath. I suspect that he was inserting the knife for the first time in order to form the sheath to the knife.

heh .. only descriptors missing is @ 0300 hrs and crossed eyed.

Hate to see that, glad to know you were not hurt.

So, what happens to that sheath. Pull out stitches and sew new front. Or is that a total scrap?

Preston ... I throw it in the garbage. :topsy_turvy:
