Slight Rattle with a Small Sebenza

I just purchased my first Sebenza (this has been a long time coming) and it arrived a few days ago - it's awesome! The knife is everything I had hoped it would be, right out of the box.

I cleaned it using the instructions on bladeforums, and the action is even better (just took a little bit of dirt out).

I am wondering if someone can give me a small piece of advice with one thing. I took the black lanyard off the knife - I prefer the look without the lanyard. Now, the blue bar that used to hold the lanyard rattles when I shake it. It did this before I took it apart and cleaned it, and it still does now.

This obviously doesn't impair the knife, but I'd like to fix it if possible.

Any advice? I like the way the blue looks, so I'd prefer to leave it in. But, if I decide to take it out, will it affect the structure of the knife at all?

Thanks!!!

that bar is supposed to be loose. it can be removed w/o affecting the integrity of the knife--it's actually a new innovation that took advantage of the Sebenza's already extant lanyard hole.

Brilliant :)

Thanks for the response, the next time I clean it I'll pop it out.

Once again, this thing rocks!

If you took the lanyard off...whats holding the bar in there right now??? Without the lanyard it should just slide right out.

Hmm, it stayed in just fine - maybe it's a newer version?

I just took it out, and the rattle is gone. Knife is absolutely perfect.

I believe I read on here awhile back, that the first versions of the blue lanyard stud would slide out when the lanyard string was removed. BUT I believe CRK re-designed the stud ( it has a a slightly smaller diameter on each end ) which keeps it from falling out if the lanyard was removed.

Congratulations on your Sebenza !!! They are truely awsome knives......:thumbup:

Thanks for the follow up...
That's the only thing I could figure...I must have missed the news on this newer version...may have to order a few now:)

This is true - it's notched on each end to fit inside. I put it in the box next to the hex key, if I decide to put it back later I definitely can.

Thanks! Agreed, the knife is amazing. I could tell the first time I opened it how well manufactured it is.

Very happy with this purchase :D

I just cant get myself to take out the lanyard pin. I have a plain small 21 and it just works with the color scheme. Blue stud, blue back spacer, blue lanyard pin....

When I carried my small CCG benza, I loved the lanyard I had on it, but it doesn't fit with the new lanyard pin...but I just cant get rid of the blue...it looks too good....but I want my old lanyard back!! arg..

As you can see, I go round and round on the issue.... hahaha :p

I've ordered 6 large & 1 small lanyard tie bar's
All the large are one size all the way across and will fall out if you remove the para cord.
The 1 small I got has shoulder's on both side's that stop's it from falling out if you remove the para cord.

I just got a large 21 with a blue lanyard bar. If I remove the lanyard the bar will stay??? I don't think the bar for my Umnum will.

No, I believe if you remove the lanyard the bar will fall out without having to disassemble the knife. Thats how it is on my 6 large Sebenza's.
On my small Sebenza if you remove the lanyard the bar will not fall out due to the shoulder's on the bar, You have to disassemble the knife to remove the bar on my small one.

Is that just bc the bar fits tighter in the small? Or is it a different bar?

Does someone have a picture of this? I have no idea what's being talked about here... my lanyard goes right through the knife handles, always has.

Isn't that why they decided to use the lanyard pin, so you can remove the lanyard without untieing it?
