So I've had my 0551 for like two weeks and there's some blade play. When it locks up you can just barely move the blade back and forth vertically. I don't think the lock would fail, but it just feels like the lock isn't getting far enough over to hold tight maybe? I didn't think much of it and just assumed it was nature of the beast on a framelock. Then I got my 0300 in, this thing locks up like a vault. So now there's some jealousy between my two ZTs. I really think 0551 is developing an inadequacy complex.

So, is this something that might work out in time? I know i've read where some people dis assembled and bent their lock bar in some more and helped the situation but I don't want to void my warranty, would bending the bar in be a warranty breaker? Or should I just suck it up and send it in to ZT?

If you really know what you're doing can bend the lockbar and get rid of the movement. If you've only done lb adjustment once or twice I'd send it to KAI and let the

experts do it.

The movement is Not going to work itself out in time.

I don't see how you'd need to be an expert. I took mine apart and bent it over slightly and it remedied the problem. Took all of 5 minutes to do.

I'm competent enough to bend the bar, I know that some companies are funny about dis assembly and what not, and I just don't want to void my warranty. My blade is also off center If 50% is centered, i'de say i'm at 75% towards the g10 side. And that's with my pivot fairly tight, it's still flickable but just barely.

By expert I talking about the folks at Kershaw/ZT. I've done this 6-8 times myself and feel more confident each time I do it. If the OP bends the lb too far then what.......

I adjusted, my blade is still off center the lock up is considerably better, it's still not on par with my 0300 though. I'm not upset about it, I still love the knife so it's no big deal!
