Wasn't sure where to post this...

I recently purchased a factory blem with a D2 blade. About 1/4" of the tip is slightly bent.

Is there a safe way to try to straighten it?

How much is "slightly"?

Eyeballing it against a a ruler marked in 100ths, I'd say the tip was 0.025"-0.03" off axis, with the bend .25" from the tip.

I didn't even notice it the first time I examined the knife. It's perfectly functional...just wondering.

If it's functional, use it as is, or reprofile the tip if you don't mind the blade being a bit shorter.

I purchased a blem a while back and the tip was funny (reason for it being a blem) and I used it and sharpened it and it has never bothered me and know I think of it as a mark of character ,also within the next few cycles of sharpening it will be gone anyway.

Wouldn't worry about it.

I would not try to bend D2. It has lots of good qualities but may not be the "springiest" steel out there.
