I have a one day old 560 which I took the scale off of this afternoon to clean up a couple of sharp edges on the gipping. My problem is now that I got it back together, it locks up so tight (hard) that its hard to close the blade. Is there a special sequence of tightening the screws? Or what is going on? I triied the pivot screw first, and then the bottom screws and it made no difference. Any ideas? Eric

Hard to disengage the lock or to move the blade? if the latter, just un-tighten the pivot a little.

It's almost impossible to disengage the lock. I put it togther as it came apart, and just am lost at the moment, kinda took the fun out of the new toy. It was no more than a scale change?

Did you oil it? if so that is your problem, the oil makes the titanium lock engage further. Clean the lock face and apply pencil lead or some sharpie onto it.

Espnazi-Thankyou, I did add a drop of oil, I will go and try the lead or sharpie, thanks again. Eric

Well, I quess that'll be the last time I pull a rookie stunt like that, I cleaned the drop of oil and used pencil lead, and all is back to normal!!! Thank God, I thought I messed up good on this one. Thanks again for the help-espnazi, really appreciate it. Eric

Sometimes it's surprising how much finesse goes into assembling a folder. Most of them aren't too bad, but occasionally it will take me a few hours to figure out how to set everything just right.

I'll have to remember pencil lead! I plan on taking my 560 apart and cleaning her,so where does one scrap the pencil lead?

On the blade tang, the portion that contacts the lockbar face is where people usually use pencil lead to soften sticky lockbars/hard to disengage lockbars for a quick "fix". Works for some doesn't for others. If it doesn't, and its perpetually hard to disengage I would look into contacting warranty for whom ever the knifemaker is.

Ya know you learn something new every day. I had wondered why all my ZTs had what looked to be black marker applied in that area? Very informative!

Glad to hear you got this taken care of. It's a strange thing, but wet lubricant (oil/grease) will cause the lockbar to stick while dry lubricant (pencil lead/sharpie marker) will help the lock disengage smoothly. Hope you enjoy your new knife!
