I bought the knife for $105 brand new. Sent it straight STR for modification. Bead blasted the handles to a natural Ti color. I like the color better this way, and it is easily touched up with some Scotch Brite. Flipped the clip and put in some PB washers.
Very satisfied with the knife. Never thought that I could ever everyday carry a knife this large. But it is not that heavy, and it is so thin, that you are not any more aware of this knife anymore than any other knife.

Is the chain just in the background? This isn't a neckknife, is it?:D

Did you switch the clip to take advantage of the wave?

We need a head shaking icon.

Why in the world would anyone want to make a knife with a blade as massive as a CUDA MAXX tip up carry?

Yes, that is exactly the reason.
The chains in the backround?
The smaller one is a Ti necklace.
The larger one is a custom Ti chain for my wallet.

Why not? I got my Cuda Maxx 7.0 the same treatment, and it is a 100% improvement in looks and functionality. (It is also much bigger than this one)

I would make it tip up also. If carried in the right pocket, the blade should not open at all; even if it didnt have a good detent, which it does. Nice mods there Deathshead, STR does some great work.

Rat, post your pic of your Maxx. I have seen pics of it before, it is a monster. That's where I got the idea to bead-blast the handles. Hope you don't mind.

Here is an interesting fact. Right now Darrel Ralph is making several 9 inch models of the Maxx. He is taking orders right now at a different forum that I cannot write here.

Bors, the tip-up conversion itself is only $10. I had several knives done at the same time and paid STR with an estimate of $100. Didn't know if was enough for all 3 knives, but it was. Not sure how much is the cost exactly for this knife when you include the PB washers and the bead-blasting. Must be around $35 all together considering I had 2 other knives worked on.

FullerH with all do respect I must say that I am hurt. :D Not really. But of all people with so many posts and I would figure you would have more knife wisdom. And to go out of your way to make such a negative post is kinda odd.
All of Darrel's Maxx models come with holes for tip-up conversion for this reason.

Great mod. I have had my Maxx scales blasted as well, much better. I also plan on getting SRT to switch the clip for me...

you need large pockets for that one right.. :D

It rides surprisingly well, as it is quite thin and light. I don't know if my pockets are oversized or not, but it fits quite nicely.
