this isn't particularly knife related, but it's material related so i'll throw it out there, i am trying to black out my new motorcycle (2002 triumph speed triple) as much as possible. my carbonfiber silencer is headed my way and i was thinking what to do with the header/exhaust pipe portion to make it stand out less, right now it's pretty polished stainless, is there a brush-on or spray applied stainless blackener? it'd be pretty hard/expensive to mix up enough to dip the pipes so that's not really an option, i guess if i can't blacken them, i could scotchbright them to tone them down a little
any ideas?

I've used VHT 1500 deg flame proof paint on Coincidentally KOOKs Headers for my car and am very pleased w/ the results. Its been on for 2 years now and hasnt burned off at all. Comes in spray cans too. Shawn

You might try black exhaust wrap. It looks like a matte nylon webbing but is extremely high tempature. It helps to hold heat in.

i did some searching and found some high temp tolerable powder coat, but i was still hoping for something less of a coating and more of a chemical change, like a parkerizing for stainless or something along those lines, easier to touch up if it gets dinged, but it looks like i am headed toward some sort of coating,
thanks for the suggestions, i am hoping to do a blacked out knife to match the bike some day
i'll post pictures if that comes together

I know how to do it with a riceburner. You dig a hole put the whole bike in it and before you cover it up with the dirt you P and crap on it and let it sit for the rest of your life. HEHEHEHEHE!!!

One of the electro etch processes should work on the pipes. Might come out brown and not black.
