has Buck ever made a slim/thin 110? I recall seeing a thread where someone had thinned out a 110.

I am thinking about 1/3 thinner in the handle/bolster area would make for a nice flat knife but still comfortable and strong. Same blade and materials as a classic 110 just thinner in the grip.

It would be a nice option.

There are one or two people that post on here that would help you. Be patient they'll find your thread...

View attachment 901395 The center knife in this pic is a model 560 Titanium handled knife that started out at 7/16” thick. After removing 1/32” of material from the inside of each handle slab, the new thickness is 3/8”. The regular 110’s are about 1/2” thick. The 186 and the original 560’s were 1/2” thick also.
To skinny up a brass and wood knife, it is better to remove material from the outside of the handle.

Buck did at one time. It was a limited run and not much was ever mentioned about it. I believe it was not much different than the regular version.

I would love to see a slim 110 with Al-Sc frame, but then I am afraid I could not afford it. On the other hand, it would be slim, light, and very strong. I would want at least S30V or CTS-XHP for the blade steel.

If you’re talking about a Scandium-Aluminum frame such as used on small Smith & Wesson Air-Lite Magnums, don’t expect the handle to be embossed like the model 111. Sc/Al is not dead soft.

Thanks for the info. I contacted Mr. Remer, but just from reviewing his website it seems he only does full custom jobs now.

I will follow up here if I get a response.

Maybe Buck could do a small run of slim 110's as a Buck of the Month?!

Did you call Leroy? If he doesn’t pick up the phone he returns his calls. He may be very busy with the BCCI 30th event coming up. His number is 619.561.2442.

Leroy thinned a 110 3 dot for me a couple of years ago. He replaced the scales also. He has since done other knives for me as well. Call him durning the week normal working hours and you’ll most likely catch him in his shop.

Ok, I will call. Thanks Christian.

I get the impression from his website that he only does super high end custom stuff, but a thin 110 is worth a call!

Mr. Remer was very kind to email me about this.

A slim 110 based off a new or nearly new Buck 110 is $150.00, and if he supplies the Buck 110 the price is $250.

Interesting.

It appears that Mr.Remer attempting to discourage you from buying the 110 from him.Perhaps it's a chore to acquire a 110 and he is charging for his time,as well as the cost of the 110.

Whether you have him perform the work or not depends if you believe the $150.00 charge is worth it to you.

Good luck.

^ran into an older vietnam vet fella in a store with a 110 on his belt. i chatted with him about it and he told me walmart had the wrong price on 110s. said they were selling them for 30 something bucks and the price was always $110 bucks for a 110...so he bought another.

i didnt walk through that door and just nodded. so maybe this customizer believes in that theory?:)

Perhaps one of the paying "Knife Maker / Service Provider" members on this forum would be happy to do the work?

Nothing against LR; but there are dozens of qualified folks here who pay for that level of membership so that they can promote their services and do business with the members here.

There's even a forum for requesting services: https://www.bladeforums.com/forums/wanted-knifemaker-craftsman-related-services.871/

It's a shame we look past the people who support this forum...

Hey folks,

Sorry to commit thread necromancy, but y'all may be in luck. I was on BladeHQ the other day and noticed some new models in the Buck section that are "coming soon"... including 110 slim and 110 slim pro models in s30v. All appeared to include pocket clips and thumbstuds…

I found this thread while trying to find more info and thought I'd pass along what little I know.
