Slim but sturdy slipjoint?

I used to carry a very slim, single blade (~3"?) Victorinox slipjoint as an EDC knife, but I've decided to move up to a Kershaw Leek AO for that purpose.

Nevertheless, I was wondering if there was a "Best in Class" recommendation out there for a very sturdy and very slim slipjoint. Most of the slim ones I've seen had flimsy designs or cheap handles.

What would you use it for? The Case Bose backpocket I picked up is a great knife, and I pair it with a Vic black alox Pioneer.

There are several single blade slim trappers that could fit the bill. How much are you looking to spend?

I really like the Queen Mountain Man, and D2 is unbeatable for a super-durable blade steel that takes a keen edge.

You may want to consider a model out of the executive whittler series. I had one and liked it and it is very, very slender but still robust for some real work. Here's the model I had, but there are several others with different scale materials and spear point main blades;

It locks, so I'm pushing it, but if you like the swing guard, the cheetah cub is SUPER slim.

I believe Eka makes a very nice, very thin stainless handled slipjoint/gentleman's folder. Some versions are lockbacks, but I believe slipjoint versions are available. These aren't terribly expensive, but they are fantastic knives, handsome, made with good Sandvik steel.

Sanrenmu makes a very nice line of unusual all stainless slipjoints. They aren't as thin as the Eka or Vic offerings, but are well made and durable, and come in several sizes.

The No.25 EZ Open or the regular 25 with single blade from GEC fits the bill VERY well. The single blade EZ Open Northfield has a very sturdy thick Spear and is only 3"
GEC have just released a number of models with a Drop point blade too, see their website. Their 25s come with Clip and Wharncliffe variants. Nothing cheap or flimsy about the handles or the steel on these!

Although not slipjoint, the Schrade 3OT small lockback is another one to consider. The US made sawn bone are the originals but the Chinese made Buffalo Horn model I have is nothing to complain about.

I'll second this notion.

I have a couple of the first Ez-Opens that came out with the sheepsfoot blades. Built like a tank. Very sturdy knives.

I gave my son one of this type, with a wolf on it. I bought it from a member here. He likes it a lot, and it's a fairly tough little knife to have and doesn't take up a lot of space in your pocket. Ours has a little sleeve/sheath it fits into.

Hi,

I would put forth the Canoe pattern. My Amber bone Case is pretty thin and the CV blades are slicing machines.

I bought 2 Kershaw Ace pocket knives for 5.00 each. There single blade and small and tuff. Sharp as a razor. My dad carries one every day. You cant beat it for the price.

The suggested knife may be a fine one but it is off topic for this thread and this forum.

Take a look at a single blade copperhead by Queen or a mini Copperlock by Case or one of the slim trappers by Case, Queen, GEC.

Of course I can't pass up the opportunity to mention a Gerber Silver Knight in 2-1/2" or 3" size.

Then there's the single blade mini-trapper by Case (shown here with an aforementioned mini Copperlock):

Queen Copperhead single blade clippoint.

In fact most single blade slippies with bone handles are pretty slim affairs, Joshua

(oops! Didn't see neeman's post there - note to self 'let all the pictures download before shooting your mouth off' :))

I am sorry, I didn't realize they did not count as traditional.
