Slim EDC knife choices?

I'm looking for a new EDC to play with and I want something with a slim blade. By slim I mean not tall, not necessarily thin. Am I making myself clear? Like a stiletto is slim and a Zero Tolerance 0300 is not. Not too far from the edge to the spine.

What's a good option in a 3-3.5 inch blade range? I prefer that it not be a liner lock but that's not carved in stone. It preferably needs a pocket clip and one-hand opening as well. Production knives <$150 or so please, I'm not looking to go custom.

Thanks for any input.

How slim are you talking about?

Like fillet knife slim?

For example, this looks kinda slim to me

and so does this

but this does not

The bm 940 you have pictured is an awesome
knife... One of my favorites. The 943 has a slimmer blade than the 940.

A BM 530 is cheaper and slim. But I say go for a 940/943 since they are in your budget

Kershaw Shallot is a good one. It's a frame lock too with adjustable pocket clip for tip up or tip down carry. Not to mention tough as hell. Also check the Kershaw OD-1. In fact a lot of Kershaw models maintain a slim design.

I would look at the Al Mar eagle, or Talon series. I think that is what your looking for.

Spyderco has some fine offerings. The Delica 4 comes to mind, as does the Caly 3/UKPK.

A second for the Shallot. The ZDP combo blades are a bit thinner than the others, and it seems to fit all of your other criteria. You might want to check with kershawguy's sales thread to see if he has any blems left.

Here's one I swapped with the Shallot CKT handles. They are DLC coated. This (and a CKT swapped 110V Shallot) has become one of my favorite knives for carry. Works well in either jeans or a suit jacket pocket.

Some quick measurements (sorry I don't have my micrometer in my pocket!): Choil to the top of the spine (the widest part of the blade): slightly less than 7/8ths of an inch. Blade length: 3.25", OAL: 7 7/8ths, Handle width: less than 3/8ths.

Look at the Spydy leaf designs or the military/para military styles.
Or Benchmades styles like the 707 Sequel.

Some older BM models were a lot like the 707, shortish, thickess folder, like my favorite gentlemen carry 690.

Uhhh, I would say that almost anything Spyderco is probably NOT what the threadstarter is looking for. The Spyderhole makes almost all of their blades rather broad.

There are various Kershaws that fit the bill.

Skyline
OD-1
Leek
Shallot

Not at all.
Look at the Endura, and there are plenty like that and slimmer:

  • Benchmade Kulgera
  • Kershaw Leek
  • Kershaw Shallot
  • Spyderco Rookie

The Cold Steel Ti-Lite meets your criteria, but the one I had was a piece of junk, so I can't recommend it.
