I have an older SM inbound. Preparing to put some touches on it.. Thinking its most likely on bronze washers. Not sure if the change to bearings and the new pivots happened at the same time or not

Has anyone tried skiffing one of the previous gen washer models? I'd sure be interested to hear the scoop on how it went. I'd like to have an S90V blade on bearings.

Also curious if the T30 pivot will swap with the spanner bit pivot. I'm sure they'll enlighten me if not and I can share here.

Has anyone added the newer overtravel disc to the previous gen? Or any knife for that matter. Not necessary, mostly dig the look. lol

Lastly, any insight into the serial number meanings? Birth info, batch numbers, etc.

I saw in a YouTube video that the numbers have something to do with the date and batch like you mentioned, but don’t remember how he said you read it. I’m sure they would be happy to answer all your questions if you call the factory. I called them a couple years ago to ask if I swapped to skiff bearings if it would void my warranty and they said it wouldn’t as long as I got the correct size. They even asked me to pull it up on the site and read them the size so they could make sure I got the right one. Seem like good folks. I got a slim midi on the way myself pretty excited to add one back to the collection. One of many that I sold or traded off and regretted. Kinda like that mk3 I sold to you a while back 🤣. Hope you’re doing well!

Oh yeah, I found the code. It's vintage 10/2019.

Absolutely no desire to add blade stop after receiving. It had the absolute stiffest lock bar I've ever handled. Took about 10ish% of the pressure off the lock bar and broke it in. Now it's broken in, lubed and great. Still on the stiff side but comfortable.

Got the pivot tuned so good. No need for bearings, washers are working just as well. Curious though, did you swap steel bearings for skiffs? Or skiffs ipo washers?

I've seen others that didn't like the short hollow scandi looking grind. I also felt like they should have used more space on the blade. But after using it some, that is one of the best slicing blades I've had.

Trust me, I'm no Medford fanboy. But these last couple have really been providing themselves. The Antic and this SM are bangers.
 
I have heard the older models have pretty stout lockbar pressure. If I’m remembering right the one I had was pretty darn stout as well. I didn’t even realize that the older ones didn’t have the lockbar stabilizers on them till you mentioned it. I’m no fanboy either I just like how unique his knives look compared to everything else out there. The Antik looks pretty sweet I’m glad to hear it’s good might have to pick one up eventually. Here is a pic of the midi I have on the way. Also I’m pretty sure I saw a thread on here a while back where someone found an aftermarket deep carry clip that would fit the midi. IMG_7395.jpeg

She was a looker! I figure they probably backed off the LB pressure and added the stop to keep them protected.

If you go for an Antic, put some skiffs in her. Took it a week or two to break in good. Just when I thought my thumb couldn't take itWhen, acrion broke in and became exceptional.

I’ll keep that in mind Im definitely gonna pick one up eventually theres just something about the look of it that speaks to me. If you have a pic of your Antik would love to see it.
 
Thank you sir! Curious to see how the PVD holds up. Don’t think I’ve had anything in that finish before.
 
I don’t think I’ve seen one with a fuller. Did it come that way or did you have it added?
