I've recently lost my kershaw vapor, which was my edc blade. I need to replace it. I like the vapor because it's so slim. I'm considering the sog flash one, benchmade 940, mini griptillian, and the crkt drifter. I like the vapor because it's slim and it doesnt hang up at all when I pull it out of my pocket. Any advice on any of these knives. or suggestions on others.

Well basically the benchmade are great for overall quality and blade material but they'll run u 70 bucks, Drifter is slim and can be won on ebay for 10-15 dollars, I have one sog twitch 2..decent knife..to me sogs look over priced and some look very cheap...hope that helps..Kershaw has a ton of good knives...skyline, cyclone, blur..try one of those..

I own about 30 production and and few custom folders each ranging from $20-$200 and I have carried my $30 CRKT Drifter 70% of the time as an EDC.

It's light, big enough to take on most jobs, and it's a very solid knife.
Plus I don'e have to worry about losing or abusing it becuase another $30 can get me a brand new one! But it has yet to fail me.

I would check out the Kershaw Skyline. Very similar blade shape and overall profile to the Drifter (though I've never carried a drifter--like what I see though) plus it's a flipper, very handy. I have edc'd one for several months and really like it.

I EDC'd my 940 for quite a while, it never let me down. It is remarkably strong for how light it is, and the axis lock is awesome. I highly recommend it.

So why not just get another one? Has the Vapor been discontinued?

I have a couple of the early production ones from when they were still made in Japan. If you can't find one then shoot me an email. Maybe I can hook you up---it's not like I can't spare them.

One of my favorites for slim and doesn't hang up on the pocket at all is the Kershaw Junkyard 1 and is very thin. Costs a little more than the Vapor but can be had for under 35 if you shop around and it is a fun and well made little flipper. Speaking of flippers there is also the Kershaw OD-1 or Skyline models which are great for a little more grip than on a Vapor. I personally would also consider the Kershaw Barrage an upgrade from the Vapor, for my preferences anyway, because I like a little more grippiness but of course grippiness means it hangs up in the pocket more too. I just recently picked up a new TiNi blackened Barrage for under 30 delivered so they can be had for a price comparable to the Vapor as well if you shop around. If you liked your Vapor a lot I'd suggest sticking to Kershaw then as IMO no one else is even competing with them in terms of the price/value ratio when you consider American made and the quality and design for what you pay.

Why not just get another Vapor?

If not, as pinhead mentioned already, the Kershaw Barrage is quite slim and similarly sized to the vapor plus it is a framelock like the Vapor. Maybe a bit bigger (in between the Vapor and Vapor II). The Kershaw Leek is also a slender framelock but it is AO. I'm not sure if that matters to you. The Kershaw Skyline is my current favorite EDC and is just slightly thicker than my Barrage but lighter.

I've been totin a Kershaw Zing since last Feb. Lost my vapor last winter. The Zing is a good replacement. Thin and carrys well

Has anyone recommended the Spyderco Paramilitary yet? Very slim, very lightweight, yet very strong.
