I've been working to slim down my knives. I feel like they were too bulky. Here are a couple I've come up with. I'm interested in your thoughts especially about the bolster handle material junction. I seem to get a 50 50 reaction. Half the people love it and half the people hate it, seems to be no middle ground so far.
Cpm-154
hand satin finish
hollow ground 14" wheel
tapered tang
416 fittings
Blue giraffe bone on one knife
amboyna on the other
Larry Parsons Sheaths

I like to see dovetailed bolsters.
They are good looking knives, and I think that a 50/50 reaction you describe is better than no reaction. I'd keep on with it if you like doing it that way.

Fit/finish seems to be top notch.
Your handle thickness seems to be about just right. So they must have
been a little bulky before.
I don't really care for the bolster/handle material transition.

Camel bone?
How have your customers reacted to camel bone? I only ask because there seems to be so much push-back these days for giraffe bone.
I imagine it's pretty stable and makes a good handle.
Never seen one with blue legs though. ;) :D

My mistake I have no clue why I put camel, it is indeed dyed stabilized giraffe bone. Brain fart I suppose. Its the first time I've used it and so far my regular customers seem to like the look. Its also the first time I have not dovetailed bolsters. I appreciate the feedback and welcome anymore. Thanks Ryan

Pretty close. One's about as ornery as the other.
Have heard of camel bone being used for handles.

Nice job on the dovetails.

Slimmer is better....by far.

Dovetail tansisition is better.

Parsons sheaths are great.

Nice work all around.

Ryan got to handle these at Larry's . I really like the feel of the handle now. They really snuggle in your palm and feel like they do fill your hand. As you said some people like the bolster and some do not but you did an excellent job on your fit and finish. The Parsons sheath just finish a fine job. Mike

I like the look of the dovetailed bolsters and the basic shapes.

I think tapering the tang a bit more would look good too.

I appreciate the comments. I'm going to work on the tapers on the next knives. I did one pretty thin and agree it looks better.
