Slip Joint Lubricant

With such an array of lubricants available these days in wet, dry, and wax formulas what would be a good choice for a slip joint after assembly? I’ve been using 3-1 but wondering if there’s anything better?

About any CLP or Ballistol works great. G96 is one of my favorites because it doesn’t leave an oily residue and it smells good.
