Ok I realise "slip-joint plier" is kind of a misleading title for a knife forum. Thats the only word I know for this type of plier. Anyway, does anyone know of them used on a plier based multi-tool? I've never seen it. I'm actually not sure if it would be possible without giving up a lot of sturdiness.

About the only one that I have seen has been the SpydeRench/ByrdRench. Not very wide in the jaws though.

Not the same thing but Vice grip makes a standard plier with a scraper blade, knife blade and hex screw driver holder in one handle.

There was an old Schrade multitool I had with a slip joint type plier head. You could set the jaws to "normal" or "wide" Unfortunately most of the blades were some permutation of "knife" so I traded it off for a tool with a more useful mix of implements

I guess the Leatherman crunch would take care of many slip-joint plier jobs when needed. Even the regular multitool pliers will work on nuts in an emergency, although might strip it a bit.
