Slip joints and age?

Reading the post by Dijos made me think about the whole question of slippys and age. I really identified with what Dijos said and I went through the whole spectrum of knives in my younger day. Until my late 30's I think I must have tried the latest and greatest of the trends, but in the end got rid of the new trendy stuff and stuck with what I grew up with.

Now my question for you all is this- How many of you did the same, go for the neat and slick modern wonders the knife magazines featured and in the end was disillusioned by the hype and went back to a traditional stockman, or barlow, or whatever.

How many of you made the full circle in the knife world, or if your one of the young pups have made the discovery of traditional knives?

I have never purchased nor used to any extent any of the the single blade--one hand openers--clip to your pocket-- knives. All my pals went with them and most stayed there but I have noticed a few coming back to the traditional 2, 3, or four blade pocketknife.
I do have to admit for many years I carried a BOKER TOPLOK button knife in a horizontal sheath on my belt in addition to my pocketknife but I quit doing so after I realized I never used the damn thing. In its' place now is a WAVE but I don't use it much either. Of coures when I need it that WAVE is doggone handy!!!

I'm a big fan of spydercos. NOT because I want a tactical knife (I buy the small, well designed folders), but because I want a premium steel in a locking format at a price that is affordable.

That said, I have plenty of trad. slipjoints and carry them too.

All depends what I plan on doing.

I grew up on slip joints, and always end up coming back to them. I can honestly say I've found my perfect EDC pocket knife.....The Victorinox Settler.
