Okay after one burned finger two blistered thumbs, several curses, swearing to quit knives and become a monk, and more hours than I care to mention, here is my third slipjoint. I just need to finish sanding the bolsters (ran out of paper!)

ATS34
SS liners with N/S bolsters
ebony scales
Let me know what you think.
thanks
Sean

Thanks Todd,
I learned alot in the many hours I put into this one. It is really smooth with nice walk and talk and a firm snap. Im really happy, but I cant get the pivot pin completly hidden, I changed it twice and guess I will again. I dont know if Im not getting the chamfer deep enough around the hole or grinding the head off of the pin.

Anyway thanks again.

Sean

Hiding the pivot pin IS one of the hardest things to do, it has to be right.

Keep trying, it can be done......;):D

After trying to make a slip joint over the last week I can really appreciate your work. There is no room for error on these. Nice

Sean,
I sure couldn't post pics of my 3rd slipjoint, and yours looks real nice.
Thought for the future...if your pivot pin is 416 SS and bolsters are N/S it is tough to hide the pin. 416 and 410 are the same color, just a little different in consistancy, so hiding the 416 pin in either 416 or 410 bolsters is easier....or using N/S bolsters and N/S pins will match up, but N/S is softer than 416 so I would shy away from using N/S for the pivot pin.

Thanks for the comments guys. Got the pins hidden today I wasnt getting enough chamfer on the holes, I changed the pin, again, and put just a little more chamfer on the pivot hole, went to the sander and bang! no pins.

It looks pretty good Sean. I hear ya on every one of your complaints including getting a different career. I'm on #5 and still cussing. I have only made 2 so far that I'm proud of.
