So, aside from the standard light oiling, what do you guys do to clean and polish the scales, expecially bone? I would like to put a nice gloss on some of my knives.
 
Vic, thanks for reminding me, can't forget the porterhouse steaks. Traditionals love them too :-p

I've used tung oil, one coat, to try to get in and afford some protection. I don't know if this is a no-no or not but it seems to be working.

Tung oil in many coats can make antler shine beautifully and stabilize it some, but it can also yellow over time. I've used it on antler handle knives I have assembled.
 
Melted parraffin wax has been recommended for bone. There's plenty of excess to remove after applying. I've used mineral oil recently on bone with no obvious harm done so far. Actually not that recent.
 
My traditionals get oiled by mineral oil on the pivots and on the handle. Sometimes, when I know I won´t use the knife a longer term, I also add a very thing oil (mineral oil) film on the blade(s). Works great. I´ve never seen anything damage the bone. But I don´t worry much about the bone on my knife...
