I am going to be married here in a couple months and am wanting to get some nice slipjoints, probably a Whittler or Stockman style, with abalone or pearl scales.

Need to be able to purchase 6 identical knives, of good quality that can be delivered by mid-August. I'm not too concerned about price but am looking in the low $100 range, as I want them to be knives that will be remembered.

Nice touch Supper - I gave my guys some nice slippies when I tied the knot many moons ago - I think I'll ask them the next time I see them what became of those beauties - good luck in your search!!!

I did the same thing. Some ALOX Vics and the best man got a Western stock with a punch and nice (I think) redwood scales.

Thanks. Looks like every place that I can find that has pearl or abalone of GEC, Queen, etc only has a couple of each style in stock. Hmmm....

I gave my groomsmen engraved Kershaw Leeks.

Whatever you do I just would suggest that it is a quality knife. But I think you've got that covered already.

Congratulations on the upcoming nuptuals.

I gave my groomsmen Leeks also. I originally wanted to give them slipjoints, but my wife pointed out that most people these days prefer modern locking blades. Either way the choice of knives for gifts is a good one.

Thank you for the congrats WA Martin.

My fiance and I talked about this as well. The father of the bride and my father grew up on ranches on The Highline (funny story that I won't get into) which is why I want to go with a stockman pattern. My father has an Old Timer he's been carrying for probably 20 or 30 years now, and is still in pretty good shape with a beautiful patina.

My groomsmen are also into "traditional" stuff as well, hell the best man is a bull rider :D

It will also tickle the fancy of my British brother in law that is fascinated with the "Old West."

Congratulations to you both.

From a UK perspective......

As far as the "Old West" goes I'd look at Moore Maker. It seems to be today's cowboy gear. I only have one of their Muskrats which I've been told are made by Queen - I don't know.

Their range isn't fancy, but it's good quality and about as authentic "Old West" as you might get.

Something decent? Something unusual? Well, I suggest you order the 2010 Forum Knife in Ebony, that'll be a knife that has something special about it and different:thumbup: Plus there's the exclusivity factor, must be a good omen. Under 100 USD, get your order in quick before the deadline:D You won't get 'em by August but it will give the men something to look forward to after your big day.

And welcome to the Trad forum

Queen make some very nice stockman in Abalone or Pearl
The 3 1/4" #26 Stockmans and the #2 Serpentine Jacks are in D2 steel
The 3 1/4" #21 Senator in SS is also very nice
(I have purchased these for special gifts, and my British exec brother was suitably impressed)

Abalone

or
Pearl

There is also Fighting Rooster, which is certainly a kick up in quality; but I would not know if he has 6 of each!
It would certainly be worth to buy 6 different knives

If he has six, Clarence might give you a deal on the Schatt and Morgan Series VI MOP whittler. Good luck and congratulations.

Found 6 of the Bulldog Stockman's for a good price and wound up nabbing em. Thanks for the suggestions.

Having some black leather pouches stitched up to offset the white pearl, will provide pics when everything shows up.
