Got this vintage Solingen bare-head jack some time ago.
The knife was unused, but the bone handles and the outer steel liners were so old and brittle they came apart in my hands.
I stripped the knife and decided to give it a shot at another 100 years of life.
Brass bolsters and liners with Grevillea speed-pod handle.
Strong snap, half-stops and the original shield.
Here are the pictures of my progress.

Nice work! I wish I had a 10th of your talent!

Never heard of a Grenvillea speed-pod before.

As far as I know I am the only person to make handles from these seedpods.
I got the idea and then devised a method to dry, stabilize and build a handle from them.
Very much a case of wanting a well figured burly looking wood, but not having any.

Wow. now that is one heck of a recycle job. More impressive than the original.

Thanks for showing that. It is a fantastic job and inspiring!
