Slipjoint Virgin...Suggestions?

As I continue my passion for knives, my tastes have slowly been changing and I have started to become less fond of my current collection; the bowies, pry-bar, folders, etc. are not so close to my heart anymore. With this change in taste, I have come to appreciate slipjoints and
would like to begin collecting. Though I have great enthusiasm, I am unsure as to what blade should be my first. I am becoming infatuated with wharncliffe blades (in swaybacks and some trappers for example) but I cannot find exactly what I am looking for; maybe I am just too picky...

May I ask of you suggestions for a production wharnie (possibly with a smaller secondary blade?) for me that is around $120? I have come to an impasse...my youthful ignorance and indecisiveness is getting the best of me. I am open to any sort of suggestion, criticism or comments you may have.

Thank you guys and I hope I have not wasted any of your time with another suggestion thread.

Take care of yourselves,

DeadFall

Welcome to this subforum :) and no, you are not wasting anybody's time.
I know how it is to enter the world of American traditionals...in the beginning, it seems that there are too many patterns and it's a bit too complicated to choose.
But, it seems you already have an idea of what you are looking for.. And, even if I'm not an expert of the matter, I second the suggestion for a Case swayback jack, or a GEC 250209 jack in burnt stag.

If you are looking at the GECs, what about the #53 Furtaker or Castros?

Also, if you're ok with whittlers, here are 2 more GECs.

That Geppetto Whiller is gorgeous!

Thank you so much for your suggestions so quickly!
You have no idea how much this helps!

There are som wharncliffe trappers out there with two blades like these regular and mini trappers:

You can also find occasionally the wharnclliffe version of Case's copperhead design:

It's bigger, of course, and has a smaller pen blade secondary. I have not seen any two blade knife with two wharncliffes, unless GEC makes one in their "conductor" model.

DeadFall27, I sent you a link to GEC's distributor list. I hope that helps. I second the Case Wharncliffe Mini Trapper too. This one is a little over your budget but I don't think you'd go wrong with one.

Ed, I think GEC's closest to a 2 bladed double wharncliffe knife is the Easy Pocket Congress but it has a wharncliffe and coping blade.

I think I may drop the ball on that geppetto whittler next week when I get paid; I just keep coming back to it!

Trand, I'm pretty sure that's the one I was thinking of. I think I could like that one a lot.

Although not slipjoint, it IS Traditional and Wharncliffe. GEC 72 Lockback comes in Wharncliffe blade version and I think it can be got in stainless as well as carbon.

Alright, so I have a few wharncliffes in mind now because of your recommendations and I could not be happier! It boils down to the Easy Pocket Congress, Geppetto Whittler, the GEC #72 and the mini copperhead.....I will have ordered by next week :)

I hope you do not mind me asking another quick question while we are all here while I decide which blade to order; I just do not wish to start a whole new thread that may last only a few posts. Is there a pruner similar to Tony Bose's design that do not come with such a hefty price tag and Damascus? I would bite, but I cannot spend that kind of cash just yet; if I didn't have to eat, I would have sooooo much more spending money:D. This would probably be my next investment after my first slipjoint.

(I feel addicted to these things already by just looking at pictures and I do not even own one yet. How do you guys do this?!)
