Slipjoint with saw blade?

I really like the saw blade on my SAKS. It has been useful a number of times.

I would like a traditional slip joint pattern like a trapper with carbon steel baldes and a saw blade.

Other than the Schrade Buzzsaw trapper, does any one know of a slip joint with a saw blade?

Are there any slipjoint custom knife makers that are willing to add a saw blade to a design?

Ideally, I would like a three bladed knife. A saw blade, a spear point and a smaller Wharncliff.

IDeally, I would like a maker that would be willing to use different balde materials for each blade (L6 for the saw, 52100 for the Wharncliff, perhaps D2 for the spear point). IF not, I would want a simple carbon steel (1095, 5160, L6, 15n20, etc) for all the blades.

The knife would need half stops, file work on the back springs but not the blades.

Can anyone direct me to a maker who may be willing to take on this task?

I have an SAK (thinking it is the Fireman model) with a great saw blade that has come in handy). It is a big knife that I think has it's roots in the rucksack model. (We might have to get a SAK expert to confirm or correct that.)

Leatherman has a few models with them also. My wave has a well designed one.

A maker to think about for one would be Richard Rogers. (Be ready for a wait and keep in mind he does not take too many specific orders and he encorports file work very in a subtle manner when he uses it. Typically on the inside of the springs rather than the outside.) Richard has encorporated quite a few utility blades in his traditional folders over the years and I am sure there are others who would be willing to make one, but Richard was the first that came to mind due to his rendition of horseman's knives that I have seen with a huge variety of blade offerings.

Im am not sure if they are still in the respective line-ups, but Gerber and Puma also have made some knives with "pocket saws" that I have seen in the past.

Your thought on the design of what you want is great. Makes me want one too!

I love knives with saws, but they're hard to find.
The only easy to find models are the SAK's.

These are the others I can think of:

Eye Brand Stag Sodbuster with saw. Lambertiana turned me on to it, and it's a great knife. Knives Plus outta Texas has them, and Ebay turns them up every now and then.

Boker, Puma, and A few other German brands make a traditional German folding knife, as Gus stated, that has a spear point, saw and assorted other tools. These are great, but they're heavy, and expensive.

Good luck.

Thanks for the tips guys.

I saw some dual bladed Groten Trappers at SMKW, but these had stainless blades.

I did a little looking around. You may want to check with J.B. Moore.

Saw a nice trapper with a wharncliff blade. He may want to try that in a premium (meaning large) stockman type knife with a saw blade. You got me thinging about one too, but Blade is way to close.

Dicer, I've made knives kinda like you're talking about in the past. There's one on my website that has seven different blades, all of them are damascus, but making them out of the different types of steel shouldn't be a problem. It would be somewhat hard to come up with a price at this time but if you're interested, and would be willing to be on a waiting list, email me. God bless you and yours.
