What slippy have you had the longest? Mine I got from my Dad (I made him give it me) when I was 20, I think. So I've had this one for about 20 years, maybe 25.

A yellow handled Case fish knife that I've had for about 35 years.

Schrade stockman... still carrying it since the mid '60's. Guess that makes it about 45 in knife years.

This little Tuxedo pen that I found forty-five years ago. It is also the first knife I ever repaired. The pivot pin was pulled out of the bolster and liner at one end. I made a new one out the axle of a Matchbox car. I did finally clean up the repair a bit after forty years. ;)

How about the oldest one I know the whereabouts of?:p My first knife was given to me when i was 10 or so...could have been younger by a bit. Was an Imperial Barlow identical to this one...I gifted mine to a nephew some years ago and bought myself a replacement. It was in my possession for 35+ years.

I have one of those as well- that was my very first knife, and I still have it. I think my Dad gave it to me when I was 6 or 7, which would mean that I've had it for about 29 years. It's still in pretty good shape, but I doubt I will ever carry it again. It was a cheap knife to begin with, with cheesy plastic scales, so-so fit & finish, and rough springs. I thought it was the coolest thing ever when I was a kid, but I wish Dad had sprung for something a little nicer.

I won't make the same mistake- I'm going to hook my son up with something fairly nice for his first knife. Probably a Case or a GEC.

But it's special as it was my first as a 13 year old kid and its one of the few things i have that was my grandads, been used some, abused, lost and found:D will go to my son in a few years...
Early 70's camillus #26 Hunter still looks pretty good, blade etch is almost gone and she's got alot of dings, got a lil wiggle, but it still gets carried, Carried it saturday when we went out shooting.

My father gave me this when I was 4.
It still gets carried and used 50 years later.

Along backwhen I carried a plain Buck 303 and a Old Timer, and I was stupid and let the 303 get mixed in with other 303s in my collection, I have it narrowed down to two but that is close as I can get. This little Peanut is number two oldest. One of you Schrade experts will have to place the timeperiod of assembly, blade is too loose to carry now. I remeber keeping it in the watch pocket of my Lee jeans while in school. 300Bucks

My Mom got me my first knife 50 yrs. ago. It was a Boker Jack knife and I still have it. I was 11 years old at the time. When I was 12 she made sure I knew how to shoot a rifle and approved of my older brother buying me a single shot Remington 22. She also told me to protect myself if someone was trying to hurt me. She said ---"Jim if someone tries to hurt you, hit them in the nose or kick them in the ankle as hard as you can when they don't expect it. That really hurts." I think my Mother was wise.

I guess of the knives that I bought and are still in my posession, my old Buck 301 stockman is it. I picked it up in an army PX in 1967, and I still will drop it in my pocket once in a while for a trip afield.

My oldest slipjoint is probably a Victorinox Spartan. It's not too old, maybe 7 years of ownership. I've had other slippies as a kid that are lost and gone forever. :( Most were swap meet cheapies though.

It's not a slipjoint but I still have the Buck 110 I bought at the PX in 1996 (1995 model).

First was a classic Camillus Official Scout knife. Even know the date- 4/23/1993- got it the day I joined the Scouts. :)

Second was an Schrade 8OT. Got that one that summer, just because I loved the looks. It was my go-to work knife for about 8 years.

Both still get their time in the pocket, 16 years later.

. . . blade is too loose to carry now . . .

I've had a couple like that; if you gently squeeze the pivot in a leather-lined vice, you might be able to tighten it up a little. Those little OT types are my favorites.

My oldest that I still have is a Case two-blade CV Hunter I traded a Schrade LB7 for in high school, spring of 1985. The blades were fairly worn down even then, but still got a lot of use. Case re-bladed it (in stainless) for me back in '04; gave me a 'new' knife. I've worked it pretty hard for several years now, and it's got decades of life left in it. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

thx - cpr
