I carry my peanut daily, and leave my larger slipjoints in the truck. Work states that you cannot have a pocket knife with anything larger than a 2.5" blade.

Custom/handmade and production, any non locking folders/slipjoints, can you name a pattern with a blade (multiple is okay) that is less than 2.5"? Looking at most of my smaller knives, the blades are 2.75". As I said, my peanut is fine, but I am just curious as to what's out there.

Pics are welcome.

I love small knives.

A few to consider are:

#06 Pemberton (if you can locate one)

#09 Esquire

#18 Coyotes (really cool knives and plentyy of them available)

#25 (still plenty of these out there from the last run)

#26 (maybe not as practical, but very cool)

#33 Conductors (these come in 2-blade configurations or whittlers)

#Northwoods Norfolk Whittler (I think this one is less than 2.5, but someone else can weigh in. There is also the Norfolk, a WONDERFUL little knife, but I'm shocked how long the main-blade is vis-à-vis the handle size and I think this one is over 2.5)

#65 White Owl

#66 Slim or Stockman (love these slims)

#83 (granted, it's a lockback)

#14 Lick Creek Boys Knife (Not sure about this one. It MIGHT be under 2.5. It will come out this summer and there will likely be a TC barlow version! This is one to strongly consider.)

I'll add more to the list as they come to mind.

Barlow (standard or small, the daddy/grand daddy have a 5" blade), small stockman, canoe, small/tiny trapper, I think any slip joint that it 3 5/8 inches or less closed has a main blade of 2.5 inches or less.
Check out the Rough Rider offerings. Great knives for not a lot of $$$$$.

Congress patterns fit what you're looking for. Small Whittlers on the Congress pattern would give you one 2.5" blade and two smaller ones. A 3 5/8" (medium) Congress would have four blades all under the 2" size. A large Congress can have multiple blades of 2.5" size. Personally I don't like the larger ones, but carry a medium in my watch pocket daily. If you look around you can find them with 3-4 different blade patterns on the same knife.

As already said, the 25 fills the hand even though it is a stubby bugger.

Here it is with some others for a size comparison. The other Barlow is a grandaddy barlow.
Forgive the pic qualith. Photo bucket is not liking my phone right now.

Anything with a pen configuration and handle length of 3.5" will likely have a main blade of 2.5" or less. If it's a jack configuration, the handle will likely need to be less than 3.3" or so, to insure that the blade is less than 2.5" -so the GEC 15 will be too big, but the 66 slim will work. Actually I believe the 66 Jack will work too, but that is unusual -it either means the Jack is underbladed slightly for its length or the pen is particularly efficiently designed.

The 33 Conductor will work for you, as will the new Lick Creek 14 pattern.

The Buck cadet is one heck of a capable pocket knife that punches well above it's weight. Extremely rugged and three blades to choose from.

Favorite folder with a 2 1/2" blade... the 2014 Indian River Jack by Northwoods.
Big enough to work with (3 5/8 closed) and the CPM 154 steel blade really holds an edge.
Worth looking for a good one.

The longest blade (Clip blade) on the Case 63090 pattern is 2.25 inches from tip to bolster. Here are a couple of photographic examples. Harvest Orange and Gray Bone shown here but these were made in a wide variety of covers.

This little custom by Bill Kennedy Jr. is the same closed length as a Peanut:

Mike Alsdorf makes some really nice small knives.

Lots of options are available that come in under 2.5", including this Norfolk Whittler and the GEC 22

Victorinox Alox Cadet is right at your 2.5" limit. Decent knife with extra tools and in an environment where knives seem to be under some scrutiny you have that "hey, it's just a Swiss Army Knife" thing going for you. Plus it's flat and light which makes it easy to carry without noticing you have it.

The Case 22087 (Jack), 32087 (pen) or 63087 (Stockman) all come in with a main blade length of 2.5" and have other blades as well.

I agree with others above... If you don't mind a single blade knife with a 2" Wharncliffe, do look at the Coyotes. Mine has been in my pocket since I received it.

Opinel No. 2 through 6 (inclusive) have a blade under 2.5 inches. The No.6 is under by something like 1/64 of an inch, according to the conversion chart I used.

Lots of nice knives shown, to back up Jackknife here is the photo of Buck Cadet plus littler brothers. While the 3 blade Cadet is a nice watch pocket knife that will throw a big shadow, I will go with the two blade 309 (middle) for fancy office dress code. My several different ones have killed every envelope and box they have encountered and drawn narry a drop of human blood. Watched a buddy gut a cow elk with his 303 Cadet to prove to his son you didn't need a giant bowie knife to survive in the wild. 300

My GEC 68 Buckaroo stockman has a main blade that is exactly 2.5".

SAK classic is a good one, too.

I have the same length restriction and it would be a lot easier if they would bump it up just a bit, but in the meantime here are some that will work: GEC 57 with the wharncliffe blade, GEC 79, Buck 503, Hen and Rooster whittler, Case penknife 32087, Case Texas Jack 22087, Case Canoe 102131 is about 1/16" over but it's close enough that I sometimes carry it, Case stockman 6344, Case Humpback Stockman 63046, Case Barlow 61009 and probably other Case Barlow patterns, Case Mini-Copperhead - I think that's the small one with the wharncliffe main, Rough Rider Barlow, and the Kissing Crane Barlow.
