A few weeks ago I was looking for a new knife to add to the collection, and the Cyclone caught my eye. Now, I've given the Cyclone mini as a present, and I've handled the knife. It seemed very good, so I thought I'd get the larger version.
A little while later I got the knife, and while it looked great, I was off-put by the finish. On the smaller Mini Cyclone, the anodized finish felt slippery, but the smaller dimensions of the knife still allowed a secure grip. However, on the larger Cyclone, with its amazingly powerful speedsafe, I constantly felt that the knife was going to slip out of my hands.
After carrying it for a day, I was forced to return the knife, simply because I could not feel safe handling it, because I thought the handle was too slippery (I purchased a Skyline instead, so Kershaw did get my money in the end).
I wanted to make a suggestion. Instead of discontinuing the Cyclone (and don't get me wrong - it's a great-looking knife, and the switchable speedsafe is an awesome idea), produce it with G10 scales on the handles, rather than anodized aluminum.
I, for one, would be willing to pay significantly more for a Cyclone with G10 scales, especially if there was a D2/Sandvik option.
