I am considering lightly sanding the highly polished G-10 scales on my folder to make it less slippery.
I would like to hear if that is a good idea or if there is a better method. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Short of sand/bead-blasting, or "scalloping" or "jigging" the surface with a dremel and a grinding bit, sanding is the best way to increase the grippiness of G10. The coarser the grit the better the grip.

If you sand, do it outside. And wear a mask. You don't want to breathe in any G10 dust.

What knife is that? Why is part of the blade exposed when it's closed?

It's a Spyderco Tropen that I got in a trade recently. The exposed blade is just a terrible design. I blunted the last 1/2" today. With the slippery grips and exposed blade problem dealt with, this turned out to be a great knife.

Adding a choil may get rid of that exposed blade issue when closed and might also look good! :)
