Slippery trail master handle

Hey guys my trail master 0-1 came and it’s beautiful the only problem is that the handle seems very slippery, I have a few kraton cold steel models and I like the grippy feeling on them but this seems very slippery like it has grease on it or something? Has anyone had the same issue? I think I’ll have to put grip tape on it.

Turns out it was grease that got from the blade and onto the handle somehow so I just wiped it off with a damp cloth making sure not to get any O1 steel wet as that stuff seems to rust easily. Now the handle is grippy I like it better but still think the handle profile is a bit long and thin and feels strange. But the blade itself is awesome!

Try rubbing some denatured alcohol over the handle to get any oil or grease off. I use isoprople and did it on one knife that felt "off" and it just snapped back as there was some form of oil/packing grease on the blade and handle.

Using Grip Tape also works for a slippery handle I do on another knife.

Thanks for the reply the grease has gone now but I think I’ll use grip tape on this handle as it feels strange, awesome blade though.

After using it in the backyard I actually like the handle now! Though I have a couple of blisters. What a magnificent knife!!!

Im thinking of takin some sand paper to my trail masters handle, its a little too grippy to me. Not great for extended use/ chopping

Hi Hermit_Knight:

After suggesting it might work, I scrounged a “small” size I had lying around; tried it on my own Trail Master... worked perfectly, and changed the feel of the knife. I’ll get around to a picture tomorrow.

Thanks mate appreciate it.

Sorry for the delay. Here’s my TrailMaster, with Re-Grip added to the stock handle.

If I’d been thinking ahead, I would have put a lanyard inside beforehand. Oh, well...
